HCLTech Partners With Anthropic to Build Enterprise Agentic AI Business Unit

HCLTech has formed a global alliance with Anthropic to create a dedicated agentic AI unit, embedding Claude and Claude Code into enterprise products like BigFix and AIForce.

HCLTech Partners With Anthropic to Build Enterprise Agentic AI Business Unit

HCLTech has announced a global alliance with AI research lab Anthropic to build enterprise agentic artificial intelligence solutions. As part of the agreement disclosed in a regulatory filing, the Noida-based technology services firm will establish a dedicated business unit focused entirely on Anthropic's Claude platform. The new initiative is designed to help large organizations deploy agentic AI—systems capable of completing multi-step tasks with minimal human intervention—while adhering to strict governance, safety, and cybersecurity guidelines.

The collaboration arrives amid substantial growth for HCLTech, whose stock value rose from under Rs 500 in early 2020 to reach Rs 2,000 by January 2025. Through this latest agreement, HCLTech intends to take Anthropic's family of models directly into critical enterprise infrastructure across sectors such as telecommunications, healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services.

Dedicated Business Unit and Centre of Excellence

Under the terms of the partnership, HCLTech's new Anthropic business unit will house a specialized centre of excellence (CoE). The CoE will be tasked with designing agentic solutions and providing corporate clients with isolated, secure testing environments to evaluate and implement Claude. Deployment will be managed directly by HCLTech’s forward deployed engineers (FDEs), who will work alongside enterprise teams to implement AI-native engineering methodologies.

Beyond deployment support, HCLTech plans to train client workforces and build the institutional capabilities necessary to operate agentic systems safely at scale. In delivering these services, HCLTech’s technical teams will build industry-specific solutions utilizing Anthropic's Claude, Cowork, and the developer-oriented Claude Code.

Integration Across HCLSoftware and AIForce

The collaboration extends across both service delivery and proprietary software. HCLSoftware, the firm's software product arm, has signed on as an Anthropic independent software vendor (ISV) partner. Under this arrangement, HCLSoftware will embed Claude into selected products covering automation, application development, business process tools, and cybersecurity. Specific products confirmed for integration include vulnerability assessment tool HCL AppScan and endpoint management platform HCL BigFix.

In parallel, HCLTech is incorporating Claude and Claude Code into AIForce, its proprietary agentic software engineering platform. Within AIForce, the models will assist engineering teams with IT support operations, automated code fixing, and digital employee services. To mitigate operational risks, the platform incorporates strict policy controls and requires human oversight for high-impact system changes.

Highlighting the emphasis on enterprise safety, Daniela Amodei, co-founder and president of Anthropic, explained the reasoning behind the collaboration: “AI can only be as useful as it is trustworthy, and we build Claude to give companies the confidence to bring it into their most sensitive and valuable work. HCLTech manages those kinds of systems for banks, hospitals, telecom companies and manufacturers, and we’re excited to partner with them as they integrate Claude and Claude Code.”

What it means for developers

For software engineers and enterprise developers, HCLTech's partnership with Anthropic signals a noticeable shift toward structured, governance-first agentic development. Rather than treating large language models as standalone text generators, enterprise IT workflows are evolving to treat models like Claude and Claude Code as active collaborators that identify security flaws in tools like HCL AppScan, execute patch management in HCL BigFix, and resolve tickets inside platforms like AIForce.

The rollout of forward deployed engineers and specialized test environments highlights the growing demand for developers skilled in AI-native engineering practices and supervised agentic loops. Because agentic setups operate with limited human input, developers will need to become adept at implementing strict guardrails, policy frameworks, and approval gates for critical actions.

For independent developers and engineering teams wanting to explore these capabilities without large-scale corporate enterprise agreements, developers can try top AI models cheaply through one API at https://apixoai.online. By testing Claude alongside alternative models, developers can experiment with code repair, IT automation, and agentic workflows under real-world scenarios.
