Ondas and Palantir Team Up to Launch Regna AI for Defense
Ondas and Palantir Technologies have established Regna AI, a new company delivering sovereign AI models for defense, edge hardware, and critical infrastructure.

Ondas and Palantir Technologies have established a new independent company named Regna AI, focused on building sovereign artificial intelligence solutions tailored for defense and mission-critical scenarios. The new enterprise will leverage Palantir's Artificial Intelligence Platform alongside open-weight models to deploy task-specific systems directly on customer-controlled hardware and edge infrastructure.
Under the initial arrangement, Regna AI is wholly funded and owned by Ondas, which will also serve as the venture's first customer. Palantir will supply the necessary model-training infrastructure and assist with deployment. Initial rollouts are anticipated over the next few months, with plans to scale into broader defense, security, and industrial sectors.
Focusing on Edge Deployments and Disconnected Environments
Regna AI intends to prioritize intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance applications before moving into broader defense operations, security, and critical infrastructure markets. The architecture is engineered to run on various edge systems, including drones, stratospheric balloons, surface vessels, ground vehicles, and command-and-control platforms.
Crucially, these models are designed to function smoothly under denied, degraded, intermittent, or limited connectivity conditions. Operators can utilize the systems to evaluate incoming information, weigh potential actions, and suggest modifications to mission plans, while human personnel maintain final review and authorization authority.
What it means for developers
While defense-focused initiatives like Regna AI highlight the demand for specialized, localized model deployments, software engineers building everyday applications also need flexible access to frontier intelligence. According to Ondas Chairman and CEO Eric Brock, the collaboration merges open-weight models, private mission data, and Palantir's operational framework to grant defense organizations full ownership over their intelligence tools. Palantir co-founder and CEO Alex Karp emphasized that sovereign models trained on specific tradecraft can outperform standard general-purpose options while eliminating external dependencies for institutions that cannot justify building foundational models independently.
