Set up OpenCode with Claude, GPT and DeepSeek in two minutes

OpenCode is an open-source terminal coding agent that works with any OpenAI- or Anthropic-compatible provider. With Apixo you can give it every model through a single config file.

The two-minute path

1. Open Dashboard → Setup → OpenCode and click Download opencode.json — your key is already inside.
2. Save it as ~/.config/opencode/opencode.json (or opencode.json in a project).
3. Run opencode and pick a model with /models.

What the file looks like

The config defines up to three providers, one per wire format, all pointing to the same base URL and key:

Why three? Each AI SDK package speaks one dialect best: GPT models through OpenAI's own package, Claude through Anthropic's, and open models through the generic OpenAI-compatible one. You get native features — reasoning effort, thinking, caching — for each family.

Customising

• Default model: change the top-level "model" to provider/model-id.
• Reasoning effort: the downloaded file includes variants (low, medium, high…) for models that support them.
• Fewer models: delete entries you don't use to keep the picker short.

Keep your key safe

opencode.json contains your key. Don't commit it to a public repository — add it to .gitignore, or keep the config in ~/.config/opencode/ instead of your project. If a key leaks, rotate it from the dashboard in one click.
