Supabase Secures $150M in New Funding and Acquires Turso
Open source Postgres platform Supabase has raised $150 million led by GIC and acquired database provider Turso, driven by rapid growth in AI-generated databases.

Supabase, an open source Postgres development platform, has announced a $150 million funding round just four months after completing its $500 million Series F. The latest investment was led by GIC, with participation from Alphabet’s growth fund CapitalG, IronArc, and SquarePeg. In addition to securing fresh capital, the financing round provides liquidity for employees.
Co-founder and CEO Paul Copplestone noted that the company is experiencing its fastest growth period to date, adding over one million users and four million databases every month. According to Copplestone, approximately 70% of these new databases are being created automatically by agents and AI-driven tools as coding utilities like Claude Code and Codex expand the software development landscape.
The Turso Acquisition and Agentic Infrastructure
Alongside the funding announcement, Supabase revealed it is acquiring Turso. Turso specializes in a low-cost architecture that allows developers to provision on-demand, per-agent databases for clients such as Superhuman, Sauna.ai, CTO.new, and Mastra.
As AI agents and autonomous coding systems scale, the demand for instantly accessible, isolated databases grows significantly without the traditional overhead of provisioning a dedicated machine for every instance. Turso founders Glauber Costa and Pekka Enberg will join Supabase, with Costa stepping into the role of Head of Agentic Services. The Turso platform will continue its operations while integrating a transition path into the broader Supabase ecosystem.
What it means for developers
The explosive rise of agentic workloads means developers and automated coding systems require scalable, low-friction backend infrastructure to provision massive volumes of databases instantly. With Turso joining forces with Supabase, developers working on autonomous applications gain access to specialized architectures capable of supporting high-volume, agent-driven demands. Derek Zanutto, general partner at CapitalG, highlighted that Supabase has positioned itself as essential open infrastructure for the current AI wave, enabling millions of builders and agents to deploy applications quickly. Founded in 2020, Supabase currently serves over 13 million developers, offering a comprehensive backend stack that includes Postgres databases, authentication, storage, edge functions, real-time subscriptions, and vector search.
