Indurex Secures €7M to Protect Industrial Infrastructure with Engineering AI
Netherlands-based Indurex has raised €7 million from Contrarian Ventures, Curiosity, and Axeleo Capital to scale its AI-native engineering intelligence platform for industrial safety.

Netherlands-based industrial cybersecurity startup Indurex has raised €7 million in a new funding round to expand its AI-native platform designed for cyber-physical systems (CPS). The investment round included participation from venture capital firms Contrarian Ventures, Curiosity, and Axeleo Capital. The funding follows Indurex’s recognition earlier this year as a Gartner Cool Vendor for its specialized approach to industrial asset security and operational resilience.
Unifying safety, engineering, and cybersecurity
Traditional operational technology (OT) security tools have historically focused on providing visibility into network-connected assets and monitoring network traffic. However, Indurex argues that industrial risk extends beyond network packets to include engineering configurations, protection settings, and process safety limits. To address this gap, the company developed what it calls "Engineering Intelligence," combining operational, safety, and cybersecurity telemetry into a single unified view.
The company's core platform, Indurex SafeGuard AI, ingests operational data from diverse industrial hardware and software sources. These include distributed control systems (DCS), safety instrumented systems (SIS), process historians, alarm management software, and IT security systems. The platform uses AI agents to process this telemetry, surfacing anomalies and engineering deviations that require operator review.
"Cyber defenses in these critical sectors have focused solely on the network. We focus on the core industrial data itself: the engineering, process and safety signals that determine whether a plant is operating within safe limits," said Jalal Bouhdada, Founder and CEO of Indurex. Bouhdada noted that the new funding will support ongoing research and development alongside commercial scaling in Europe and the Middle East, prior to expanding into the United States and Asia-Pacific.
A Head of OT Operations at a global manufacturing organization using the platform highlighted the practical operational change: "With Indurex, cybersecurity and process safety are no longer managed in silos. The platform correlates OT, safety, and engineering signals into one coherent view, allowing us to understand what really matters operationally."
Addressing vulnerabilities in connected physical infrastructure
The demand for unified CPS platforms comes amid rising cyber incidents targeting critical infrastructure across energy, oil and gas, utilities, manufacturing, and data centers. According to the SANS Institute’s State of ICS/OT Security 2025 survey, 22% of industrial organizations experienced an industrial control systems (ICS) or OT cyber incident over the past year. Among those affected, 40% suffered operational disruptions, and nearly 20% required more than a month to fully remediate the issue. The survey also revealed that 58% of respondents identified IT compromises spreading into OT networks as their primary initial attack vector.
At the same time, IT and OT convergence alongside increasing electrification is creating a larger digital attack surface for industrial facilities. "Electrification is putting more critical infrastructure online, and attacks on it are rising, with the damage felt in the physical world: cold homes, dark hospitals, water that stops flowing," said Rokas Peciulaitis, Founder and Managing Partner at Contrarian Ventures. Peciulaitis emphasized that detection alone is insufficient without contextual understanding of how alerts impact physical processes.
Indurex’s system is also built to help operators maintain automated evidence and reporting for international regulatory and functional safety frameworks, including IEC 62443, IEC 61511/61508, NIS2, NIST CSF, and NERC CIP.
What it means for developers
For software engineers and AI developers working on industrial and enterprise systems, Indurex's model highlights a clear shift away from isolated monitoring toward agentic, cross-domain data integration. Developers building next-generation industrial applications are increasingly tasked with ingesting telemetry from legacy hardware, such as control systems and historians, and normalizing it for real-time analysis by AI models.
Key technical considerations emerging from this approach include:
- Designing interoperable data pipelines capable of ingesting high-frequency industrial telemetry alongside standard IT logs.
- Implementing AI agent architectures that do not simply generate alerts, but contextualize physical process risks and provide recommended operational actions.
- Ensuring compliance features—such as automated audit reporting for frameworks like NIS2 and IEC 62443—are embedded directly into backend data architectures.
As developers build and test complex AI workflows for industrial context, managing inference costs across multiple LLMs and model providers becomes a practical necessity. Developers looking to experiment with top AI models can access them cheaply through one API at https://apixoai.online, simplifying integration across diverse operational tools. Ultimately, Indurex’s strategy demonstrates that developer solutions in critical infrastructure must bridge the gap between network data packets and real-world physical processes.
